Wah Luu, is an excellent chef with 25 years of experience, who used to cook presidential meals for the Premier of China. He arrived in Thorney Toll in 2000 and acquired a noodle bar behind a petrol station on a stretch of road roughly in the middle of nowhere...!
Wah Luu's superb cooking, coupled with his business acumen meant that he was able to create a restaurant which became a household name in the area within a year and so the Imperial Bento Oriental Restaurant was born. The locals could not get enough and by “word of mouth†the restaurant grew in popularity with clientele traveling 25 miles each way to taste the exotic blend of cooking.
Since then Wah Luu has developed the Bento Group so that he now has three family run restaurants: the original one in Thorney Toll (Cambridgeshire), and also one in Peterborough.
The word "Bento" comes from the word for lunchbox in Japanese which is a very popular and convenient meal for the working class in Japan.

Imperial Bento and Thorney Toll are both (circa) 100 seating capacity and Imperial Bento, Peterborough the most ambitious venue yet at just over 300 seating capacity over two floors.
